The Bush Whare (pronounced farr-wree)  Accommodation Units at Mount Tutu Eco-Sanctuary have been built using recycled materials and are styled in the Retro Decor of the 1970's.

A feature are the Archways or "Tomokanga", which in New Zealand adorn entrance to Marae and Meeting Houses as a welcome.  The Tomokanga in those situations are heavily decorated in carvings often with a head at the apex, with the archway symbolising arms outstretching from the Head.  When there is carving on the Archway Arms this typically story tells the   Whakapapa (genealogy).

At Mount Tutu Eco-Sanctuary the Tomokanga Architecture uniquely represents a welcome combining Maori Architecture and English Colonial Architecture as the Apex incorporates a Finial which was typical on the early houses of Colonial Settlers.  The Finial stems from Medieval England and was affixed to structures to protect from evil.
